I just tried to clean my new cork floors after the work people left and the cleaner from i-floors isn’t causing the luster to come back. I see smears and can’t get them out. Would the paint thinner I saw a painter using on the floors have ruined the finish? Thanks

One Comment to “Does paint thinner harm cork flooring?”

You bet! It’s very possible that a petroleum distillate or based thinner could’ve easily "eaten" away at the finish–probably a sealer of some sorts that was partially dissolved or etched by his attempt to clean his mess. Was it a thinner for the glue he used on the floor like for ex. denatured alcohol or just mineral spirits–paint thinner? Anyway, follow up on it because they may have to compensate you.
