Add a lever to the opposite side of the door and turn it on. That way the door won’t open at all, and they still fall into the lava ^^

@TheCowGamer You could add water underneath the walkway. They drown, then create a release trap for their items. Also, the door opening may allow them to get inside before they fall.
It is a funny trap but In my experience, when i see a door presented like that(steps from all directions and general fanciness) it SCREAMS trap.
